MMS Head Monster, Karen Gorecki, is hosting a monster making workshop! Campers will learn to make all things monstrous – teeth, horns, warts, tails, drool, you name it! After this week of camp, your campers will have a ceramic hidey-hole for their keepsakes that will definitely keep sticky fingers at bay!

Grades 4 - 8

Campers will build their portfolios as they snap, edit, and publish their digital art with MMS’ photographer, Roger Gonzalez! Any camera you already have will work for this camp, where campers will learn the fundamentals of photography and editing software to protect and polish their work. Campers will walk away with different types of medium, different angles, new perspectives, and fresh shots they can share.

Grades 1 - 4

Campers are gonna break it down with experienced teachers who will guide them through basic hip-hop moves that focus on alignment, technique, and fun! They’ll build the strength and endurance to keep up with the choreography and then come up with their own funky dance sequence. Dancing can be a great physical outlet for kids that also teaches them about technique and creativity!

Grades 4 - 8

Utilizing the latest 3D modeling software, campers will harness the power of AI to create face tracking Spachat filters. They’ll be able to make their siblings look like a robot, or make a robot look like an alien! This camp will show them how to model and animate angle features and then program them to track specific proportions of the human face. At the end of this week, they’ll have their own filters to share with friends and family!

Grades 4 - 6

If your camper is begging you to stay at home alone, this camp will give them the crucial independent living skills they need to be a safe citizen at home, in the community, and online. They’ll learn to prevent unsafe situations, how to respond when faced with power failures or weather emergencies, and how to assess and respond to injuries and illnesses, including the life-saving skill of CPR.

Grades 5 - 8

Jaime Wszelaki is extending the SeaPerch challenge to our summer campers! They’ll work in teams to build and operate underwater robots. They’ll learn how to problem-solve and complete underwater challenges while learning tool safety and technical procedures. Campers will work together to design, build, and program their robots to outwit the other teams and become Naval champions.

Grades 1 - 6

This camp explores the world of mosaics from Ancient Greece to modern-day interior design studios. Campers will get hands-on with this art form using small pieces of colored glass, stone, and other materials to create images that tell stories. MMS Art teacher Karen Gorecki and Lower El. teacher Georgia Kane will work with your campers to design and build their unique mosaic tray.

Lights, camera, action! Our producers-in-training will gain experience with professional equipment, video editing software, storyboard generations, and the mechanics of visual storytelling. To put these new skills into action, campers will work in teams to create shorts at the end of the week!

Grades 4 - 8

Aprons on, hair back, hands washed – let’s make some pasta! During this hands-on class, campers will be separating eggs, mixing and stretching dough, and cutting a variety of pasta noodles. They’ll master the from-scratch recipe, and let their creativity take over making all different shapes of pasta. Campers will come home with a knowledge of kitchen safety, how a recipe works, and a book of recipes.

These campers will become the problem solvers of tomorrow! VEX Robots allow us to explore the world of robotics, engineering, and coding at camp. Campers will build their robots from the ground up, adapting them to compete in user-piloted challenges and obstacle courses, as well as completely autonomous challenges programmed using ROBOTC – the universal coding language of robotics!
